Daniel Garcia recently sat down with Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp to talk all about his iconic dance moves, how they’ve gone viral, and Mina Shirakawa’s take on his signature gyrations.

Garcia, who made waves in AEW for both his technical prowess and his ability to entertain, has embraced his versatility in the ring, but now he’s ready to move on from the dance that became a crowd favorite.

Garcia, who was a key part of the Jericho Appreciation Society, used his time with the faction to show that he could be more than just a technical wrestler—he could be a full-fledged sports entertainer. But after his AEW All In 2024 return, Garcia is laser-focused on success and has his sights set on Maxwell Jacob Friedman. As he moves forward, he’s leaving the dance behind, and he’s totally cool with Mina Shirakawa taking it over.

“Mina is somebody who — she can do it better than me. She can have it now. She got it,” Garcia said, acknowledging Shirakawa’s viral adaptation of his moves.

Reflecting on the dance’s success, Garcia admitted that he was surprised by how far it reached, even beyond the wrestling world.

“If you’re consistent with anything and give it the proper platform, and you’re talented enough and believe in it enough, you can make anything take off,” he said. “I expected it to take off in the wrestling world. I didn’t expect it to do so much numbers in the non-wrestling world.”

From NFL players to rappers and even a shoutout from Chris Brown, Garcia’s dance moves went viral on meme pages, garnering millions of likes. But despite its popularity, Garcia is ready to close this chapter.

“There’s a time and place. Sometimes, you do it soft. Sometimes you do it hard. Sometimes you do it aggressive… It’s something I’m definitely proud of, but it’s a chapter I’ve closed.”

While he’s stepping away from the dance, Garcia remains focused on his return to AEW and the road ahead, particularly his feud with MJF.

What do you think? Should Daniel Garcia bring the dance back, or is it time to let Mina Shirakawa take over? Let us know in the comments!
