The current decline of AEW Dynamite’s ratings is always a major topic of discussion as there simply doesn’t seem to be a way to genuinely increase ratings at a steady pace. In fact, we now have an alarming statistic about AEW Dynamite’s dwindling ratings.
According to Wade Keller of PWTorch, AEW Dynamite has seen a decline in viewership over the past six weeks. The show averaged a 0.55 rating in the 18-49 “coverage rating” category, which measures the percentage of viewers who have access to TBS and are watching. This is down from a 0.70 rating during the same period last year, reflecting a 20% drop in viewership among those with access to the network.
In the past four weeks, excluding two weeks affected by the summer Olympics, Dynamite’s rating in this category dropped from 0.71 to 0.58, an 18% decrease. For total viewers aged 2 and up, the show averaged a 0.45 rating compared to 0.52 last year, marking a 14% drop.
This decline is more pronounced among younger viewers compared to older ones. While overall ratings have decreased, it’s important to note that the number of people with cable TV has also diminished. As a result, the drop in viewership might seem more dramatic than it is when considering the shrinking pool of cable subscribers.
Overall, Dynamite is attracting a smaller percentage of both 18-49 year olds and total viewers compared to a year ago, indicating a decline in viewership even among those who still have access to the show. Even this week’s Dynamite saw a decline in ratings, so only time will tell how AEW will try to combat their dwindling viewership.
