AEW World Champion Bryan Danielson recently revealed that WWE reached out to him after he filed for the trademark of his famous “Yes” chant in July. The chant became iconic during his time in WWE, but Danielson has continued to use the movement in AEW, prompting interest when he applied for the trademark.

In an interview with Luke James Chats before AEW All In, Danielson explained the situation, saying, “It’s weird. I applied for it [the trademark] and then I got—well, it wasn’t exactly a cease and desist. I got some sort of legal letter from WWE.”

He went on to clarify that his decision to file for the trademark wasn’t a big strategic move but rather something that happened quickly after his manager brought it up.

“My manager just texted me and said, ‘Hey, this thing is available. Do you wanna get it?’ I was like, ‘How much does it cost?’ and it wasn’t that much, so I said, ‘Okay, sure.’ But then, shortly after, I got an email from WWE saying, ‘Oh, this is infringing on this or that,’ and I’m like, ‘Dude, I’m not trying to sell anybody anything. I just do my thing.’”

Despite the legal interaction, Danielson remains focused on his wrestling career. He is set to defend the AEW World Championship against Jack Perry at All Out on September 7.

As Danielson prepares to face Jack Perry at AEW All Out, it’s clear that this won’t be the last time fans hear about the “Yes” chant. Whether or not the legal situation escalates, the chant has already left a lasting mark on the wrestling world, just like Danielson himself.

What are your thoughts on Bryan Danielson’s situation with WWE over the “Yes” chant? Do you think he should be able to use the chant freely in AEW, or does WWE have a valid claim? Let us know in the comments section below!
