WWE Criticized for Overshadowing Giulia During 9/3 NXT

Giulia has made a significant impact in WWE after her surprising debut at NXT No Mercy and she followed it up with an appearance on NXT this week. However, WWE has been criticized for overshadowing Giulia during her segment.

During the September 3 edition of WWE NXT, she made her entrance after NXT Women’s Champion Roxanne Perez issued a warning to her. At the time, Chelsea Green was already in the ring, demanding a title shot from Perez. Green confronted Giulia and took a swing at her, but Giulia responded with a powerful G-Trigger, knocking Green out cold in the ring.

While speaking during a recent episode of Busted Open Radio, WWE Hall of Famer Bully Ray criticized WWE for including Chelsea Green in the segment, arguing that Green overshadowed everyone else involved. Bully Ray noted that Green ended up being the standout star, making it hard for anyone else to shine as she overshadowed Giulia.

Ray explained that main roster talents are usually brought to NXT to help enhance other wrestlers and give them a boost, not to overshadow them. While he typically avoids second-guessing, he admitted that in this case, he felt Green’s presence overshadowed everyone else. Bully Ray praised Green’s talent, stating that it’s almost inevitable for her to be the highlight of any segment she’s in due to her exceptional skills.

“I have never felt that any main roster talent has come to NXT and overshadowed because I know exactly why they’re there. They’re there to enhance the roster, they’re there to give the rub, they’re there to help the other talent. Now, I never play Monday Morning Quarterback, but this is Monday Morning Quarterback because normally I pride myself in being able to see beforehand instead of after. But this is a total Monday Morning Quarterback comment I’m about to make.

I don’t know if I put Chelsea Green in that segment last night because Chelsea Green completely outshined everybody in that segment last night. You could sit here and you could tell me how much you love Roxanne Perez or how great Giulia is, but Chelsea Green was the star of the show in that segment last night. It’s almost impossible for Chelsea Green not to be the star of a segment because that’s how good she is.”

We have already reported on WWE’s strategy for Giulia as she is set to challenge Roxanne Perez for the NXT Women’s Championship on the debut episode of CW Network on October 1st, so we’ll have to see if Giulia will become the new champion next month.
