AEW really need a television deal and their current agreement with Warner Bros Discovery is a big subject of conversation. Now Tony Khan has offered an update on the ongoing discussions with Warner Bros. Discovery regarding AEW’s forthcoming media rights deal.

AEW’s current media rights agreement with Warner Bros. Discovery is set to expire at the end of 2024, and talks about a renewal have been underway for several months.

During the AEW All Out media scrum, Tony Khan provided insights into the negotiations between AEW and Warner Bros. Discovery and addressed whether an announcement about the new deal is imminent. Khan stated that there is excitement on both sides of the table regarding AEW’S talks with WBD. That being said, there is nothing to announce about the conversations they are having.

“It’s a really exciting time for AEW. We are having great conversations. There have been a lot of reports, and many of them have been quite accurate about the status of the media deal between AEW and Warner Bros. Discovery. It’s been a productive and ongoing conversation that we’re still working on. There are a lot of details. You mentioned the future of the TV deal, which is something we all want; AEW on TBS and TNT. It’s great to be wanted by TBS and TNT. I feel very fortunate that, after being here for five years, there is still this great appetite and desire to keep AEW on TBS and TNT. It’s a mutual thing. We love Warner Bros. Discovery.

“We’re still working through the details of the agreement, which is a very long and complex process, but it’s a good one. Negotiating a contract for one person, one player, one athlete can be lengthy. Now imagine doing an agreement for an entire league covering all our events and exciting projects. There are exciting developments ahead, though I can’t reveal specifics that might jeopardize our company or the status of what we’re working on. There is a lot of enthusiasm on both sides.”

“While I can’t delve into the future of streaming, I can confirm that there have been many productive discussions between AEW and Warner Bros. Discovery. There are still many details to finalize, but it’s a great time for AEW. Everything is shaping up well for AEW and our fans.”

We will keep a very close eye on the ticking clock associated with AEW’s television deal. Only time will tell how much time they actually have, because Tony Khan has been very close to the vest when it comes to these discussions.

Tony Khan met with WBD higher-ups in Paris a few weeks ago during the 2024 Olympics. Fans are still waiting to find out exactly what is going on with this situation, but we will keep you posted here at Ringside News.
