This year’s AEW All Out event is set for Saturday, September 7, at NOW Arena in Chicago, IL and there are quite a few solid matches that fans can sink their teeth into. With that said, it appears AEW scrapped plans for a title match that would have been at the show.

Kris Statlander and Willow Nightingale used to be best friends until Statlander betrayed Nightingale at Double or Nothing. At AEW All In, Nightingale teamed up with Tomohiro Ishii to defeat Statlander and Stokely Hathaway.

They were also set to square off against each other in a Street Fight for the CMLL Women’s Championship. While speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer reports that the match between Willow and Kris, which was initially planned to be a championship match, will not be for the title.

It appears the decision was influenced by various factors, possibly including the anniversary show and concerns from CMLL about having the title on the line in a street fight. Despite the initial plans, the match will not be a title bout on Saturday.

“So the Willow match with Kris is not a championship match. It was originally supposed to be a title match and I think because of all this – maybe because of the anniversary show thing, the agreement was they wanted to announce it before so it wasn’t a title match. Maybe CMLL didn’t want the title in a street fight? I don’t know but whatever it was, it was supposed to be a title match and it’s not a title match on Saturday.”

It is certainly a shame that the match will no longer be for the CMLL Women’s Championship, but that might just mean the two will continue to feud for several weeks after All Out, so we’ll have to see what AEW will have planned for their feud till then.
