Ricochet recently made a high-profile debut in AEW, where fans are eager to see him reach even greater heights. His AEW journey began with a victory over Kyle Fletcher on the August 28 episode of Dynamite, setting the stage for his promising future in the promotion.
During an appearance on The Masked Man Show, Ricochet was asked if he feels like a top guy entering AEW. He reflected on his personal philosophy and approach to his wrestling career, likening it to the journey of beloved anime characters like Goku from Dragon Ball Z and Naruto, who rise to greatness over time through hard work and perseverance.
“The thing about Ricochet is the climb. I’m a big anime nerd. The Gokus, he didn’t start out as the guy, he started out as little Goku. Naruto, all these guys, they became the guy because of the story that built them up. Obviously, in some of these shows, for example, Dragon Ball Z, Goku got trained by Master Roshi. Do I want to come in and immediately be Master Roshi? Not necessarily. I like the build, the climb.”
He also acknowledged the challenge of proving himself in every new environment, despite having repeatedly demonstrated his abilities in the past.
“I’ve always felt for some reason that I’ve always had to prove myself everywhere I go, and maybe that’s what it is. Maybe I just feel like I gotta prove myself again, even though I feel like I’ve always proved myself over and over and over.”
Ricochet’s comments show his excitement for the journey ahead in AEW and his belief in the importance of gradual growth, rather than instantly stepping into a top role. His victory over Fletcher was just the beginning of what could be a long and rewarding climb to the top in AEW.
