Ronda Rousey made a huge impact in the world of Mixed Martial Arts becoming a UFC Heavyweight Champion in the process. She transitioned to professional wrestling in 2018, joining WWE, and had two remarkable stints before exiting the company in 2023 after WWE SummerSlam.
During a recent appearance on the Bloomberg Live season 2, WWE Hall of Famer Paul Heyman highlighted WWE’s women’s division using Rousey’s transition from MMA to WWE as a prime example.
The Wiseman stated that WWE currently has one of the greatest women’s divisions in the entire industry. Paul Heyman cited Ronda Rousey as a prime example who got the opportunity to not only display her athletic skills, but also build a character and show acting ability in WWE, solidifying his claim that women in WWE can go inside the ring as well as become larger-than-life personalities for the fans en route to the division’s success.
“Ronda Rousey came to WWE to display her athletic skills and while doing it, she got a chance to also display her own persona as a character. When Ronda Rousey, who is to MMA is Williams sisters to Tennis, comes to WWE to do that, it speaks volumes of what we are doing. So women here are not only magnificent athletes, they have acting chops as well.”
Ronda Rousey is currently preparing to give birth to her second child, while being busy with her multiple endeavours. On the other hand, Paul Heyman has not been seen on WWE live television programming since he was beaten down by Solo Sikoa and his new Bloodline months ago in Madison Square Garden.
While Ronda Rousey mentioned that her full-time wrestling career days are over, she said she would be open to returning for part-time appearances. So it will be interesting to see Rousey come back for sporadic in-ring matches or appearances that would definitely pull major traction, considering her athleticism and star power.
