AEW is known for spending money whenever Tony Khan thinks it is worth it. He has also licensed out several songs that have cost the company a bit of money. Orange Cassidy has now revealed the story behind his use of “two very expensive theme songs” ahead of AEW All Out 2024.

During an appearance on radio station Q101, Orange Cassidy detailed how he ended up with both “Jane” by Jefferson Starship and “Where Is My Mind?” by Pixies as his entrance themes.

Cassidy explained that he was coming out to Jane prior to AEW, but that had to stop. It was all the Wet Hot American Summer vibe, one that played off the fact that OC is basically a pro wrestling version of Paul Rudd’s character from that iconic cult classic. Then things changed when AEW became a reality. Finally, after a bit of time without Jane, Jefferson Starship finally turned around, so that gave him two songs that cost Tony Khan a ton of cash.

“So, because it’s a music station, I guess I can get into it a little bit. Before I was on AEW, I was coming out to ‘Jane’ by Jefferson Starship, and I just loved it because I loved the movie Wet Hot American Summer and I like the way it started with that.

“When I got to AEW, Jefferson Starship’s like, ‘No. We’re not letting you use that for this guy,’ and because Tony Khan is who he is, he’s like, ‘We’re gonna get another one,’ and I was like, ‘I mean, you don’t have to. I can just get a custom one.’ He’s like, ‘No, no. We’re gonna –’

“We were late one night and on the fourth floor of the hotel we were staying at after a show and just talking about stuff and he came up with the Pixies or maybe it was Chuck Taylor. I’m not sure. I wanna say it was Tony because that’s probably a better answer to say — I’m pretty sure it was him — that he suggested the Pixies and they reached out and Pixies was like, ‘Sure. We’ll do it…’

“Then there was an article on Pitchfork saying like, oh, ‘This new wrestler is coming out to the Pixies.’ Jefferson Starship reached back out… And they said, ‘Hey, we’ll do something’ and now I have two very expensive theme songs.”

Although Orange Cassidy’s participation in AEW All Out 2024 has not been confirmed, he does have the opportunity to secure a spot. Cassidy will compete in the Continental Championship qualifying matches on Collision, where he aims to advance to a four-way match against Kazuchika Okada at All Out. To make it, Cassidy must defeat Bryan Keith. The other qualifying matches include Konosuke Takeshita vs. The Beast Mortos and Lance Archer vs. Mark Briscoe.

We will keep a very close eye on Orange Cassidy’s antics in AEW. He has been able to prove himself in a big way with that fan base, and now he is just waiting for his next opportunity. Although he may act like he doesn’t like trying, it is apparent that Freshly Squeezed really likes having a title belt to lug around in his backpack.
