The pro wrestling world is full of talented people, and there are some gifted commentators in the game right now. Even Mauro Ranallo is getting back into the swing of things with Scott D’Amore’s new Maple Leaf Pro Wrestling company. Even thought Joe Tessitore was able to have a successful debut on RAW this week, Tony Schiavone still believes that nobody can top AEW’s masked commentator, Excalibur.

Tony Schiavone, a current AEW announcer, recently shared his thoughts on WWE’s newest broadcast hire, Joe Tessitore, following Tessitore’s debut on RAW. Although Tessitore is one of the best in the game, Tony believes that Excalibur beats him.

On his podcast, What Happened When, Tony Schiavone expressed confidence in Tessitore’s potential success in his new WWE role. That doesn’t put him above his masked coworker.

“I’m sure he (Joe Tessitore) will do well. And I’m sure that Nick Khan is paying him a big chunk of money. I’m sure he is gonna end up being one of the best, I would hope, play-by-play men in wrestling.”

“I don’t think he’ll be in the class of Excalibur, but then again, right now, in this day and age, no-one is. He’s amazing.”

Joe Tessitore made his WWE RAW debut this past week, joining Wade Barrett on the commentary panel. Meanwhile, Michael Cole and Corey Graves will take over commentary duties for SmackDown as the brand transitions to the USA Network. This situation isn’t going to last forever, because the commentary team of Cole and Pat McAfee will return to WWE RAW when the show moves to Netflix in January.

Joe Tessitore’s WWE RAW debut was well received, and there is a lot of excitement about what he brings to the table. Only time will tell if Excalibur is able to stay with AEW for the rest of his career, but he is going to keep tearing it up for Tony Khan’s company while he can.

What’s your take on Excalibur’s announcing style? Where do you think he ranks among the best in the business right now? Let us know what you think in the comments section!
