Drew McIntyre recently opened up about taking a photo with Jack Perry, which stirred the internet and added fuel to his ongoing feud with CM Punk.

The tension between Punk and Perry dates back to their confrontation at AEW All In in August. Perry’s suspension and Punk’s eventual release stemmed from a disagreement over the use of real glass during a segment, which Punk advised against. In response, Perry made a controversial on-camera comment during a match, referencing real glass and saying, “Cry me a river,” which led to a backstage altercation between the two.

AEW later aired footage of the incident on Dynamite, and Punk provided further context during an appearance on The MMA Hour. Addressing this while speaking on Insight with Chris Van Vliet, McIntyre recounted his chance encounter with Perry and how it unexpectedly made waves online.

“No, I didn’t run into him at Comic-Con,” McIntyre clarified. “I was flying to LA after their show the night before. I bumped into my buddy Roderick Strong at the airport, who was headed to an ROH event. Then on the flight, I saw Jack and his partner. We had a brief chat and snapped a quick picture. Within minutes, the internet went crazy. It was hilarious.”

McIntyre reflected on how quickly the photo caught fire online, sharing, “I think it lasted all of 45 minutes, but in that time, there were around 2 million impressions. It was insane how much people enjoyed it. I like playing on that fine line of what’s acceptable and what keeps people guessing.”

Keeping the intrigue alive, McIntyre added, “Whether the photo was planned or not, I’ll never say. I love making people wonder.”

This playful and unexpected moment only adds more layers to McIntyre’s ongoing rivalry with Punk, and fans are left with more questions than answers about what’s coming next.
