Cody Rhodes came back to WWE at WrestleMania 38 last year and wasted no time in making an impact and he is now one of the biggest stars in the company. He has a lot of history with Rollins and it appears he has chosen Rollins as his ideal opponent for a 60-minute iron man match.

Upon his return to WWE at WrestleMania 38, Cody Rhodes quickly engaged in a heated feud with Seth Rollins. Their three encounters were highly entertaining, with Rhodes coming out on top in each match, defeating Rollins.

While speaking in an interview with Kenny McIntosh for Inside The Ropes Magazine, Cody Rhodes spoke highly of Seth Rollins and his impact on his own career. Rhodes recalled Rollins’ significant role at WrestleMania 40 and his impressive rise in WWE, including the legendary cash-in that marked his Hall of Fame-worthy career. Rhodes remembered their early matches, like The Shield versus the Rhodes brothers, and noted a natural connection with Rollins.

“Well, look at WrestleMania 40 and Seth being the MVP of that event. He’s waved the flag for WWE for years. I don’t think I realised how important the matches were at the time. I knew the power of Seth Rollins, though. I’d seen the greatest cash-in of all time. The dude had a Hall of Fame career within five minutes of working there. He was just on fire and I had his first live event in Kalamazoo. We had done an FCW show together. The Shield versus the Rhodes brothers to get our jobs back.

We had these little moments, not unlike when I’m in there with Roman and there just feels like this sense of, I wasn’t in The Shield by any means, but there’s this natural connection. I think the matches are remembered better than maybe I remember them because of the third match, because of Hell in the Cell, because of the injury and going forward and having a match, I don’t think I realised how unprecedented that was. I tell people all the time, I won’t watch it back.”

Rhodes admitted he hasn’t watched their Hell in a Cell match back because the story and lore around it are well-documented. He reflected on the intense emotions of that match, where he felt like he was on the brink in the early moments but emerged feeling invincible. Rhodes expressed interest in potentially having another match with Rollins, particularly in an Iron Man match setting, although he’s unsure if fans would want to see it. He praised Rollins as an excellent in-ring performer and would relish the opportunity to test himself against him again.

“I don’t have to watch it back. There’s a new figure printed every day, that story and the lore that came out of just ripping my chest to shreds and then going through the match. I’d love to sit down with him and watch that one and just relive the feeling of being in there and thinking I’m gonna die in the first five minutes and then by the end of it feeling like I was bulletproof. A series of emotions and adrenaline. That’s the song man, adrenaline in the soul.

But that third match I think puts an exclamation point on those. To the point where I don’t know if people would want to see me and Seth wrestle again, maybe they would, I’d love to. He’s such a great in-ring wrestler. If I had to go 60 minutes with anybody, I’d certainly like to test myself with somebody like him in an Iron Man setting. I don’t know if anybody wants to see another one. We really did good with the three we had.”

Seth Rollins was instrumental in Cody Rhodes winning the Undisputed WWE Championship at WrestleMania 40. Therefore, we will have to wait and see if Rhodes and Rollins will square off against each other in a 60-minute iron man match in the future.
