Vince McMahon ruled over WWE with an iron fist for several years but he is currently dealing with sexual trafficking lawsuit. With that said, it appears McMahon allegedly fired a WWE star on the spot despite following orders.
While speaking during the latest episode of Huge Pop with Donnie DaSilva and Jimmy Korderas, Mark Henry shared a story about his experience with Vader. He revealed that Vader, who was billed at 450 pounds but felt like it, was reluctant to be press-slammed due to the difficulty of lifting such a substantial weight. Despite the physical challenges, Vader did not want to be pressed slammed, even though the former champion felt he could manage it.
”Brother, go back and look at me and Vader. Vader was 417 pounds and they listed him at 450. He felt like he was 450. Brother, that was rough. Moving weight. It’s not a barbell. It was awkward.
No. No (Vader was not helping me out when it came to press slamming him). He didn’t wanna do it, God rest his soul, and… I feel bad because he’s not here to defend himself and I would say this even if he was alive, because I know he would understand. But he didn’t want me to press slam him.”
The former champion went on to explain that Vince McMahon had warned Vader he would be fired if he did not follow his order and comply with the move the following night. Vader, despite his reluctance, did perform the move as instructed.
However, he was still let go on the spot by McMahon, although he was eventually rehired later. The former champion recounted seeing Vader in tears backstage after the incident, reflecting that McMahon’s decision was partly a punishment for sabotaging the previous night’s show. Despite the firing, McMahon did bring Vader back into the company.
”So he intentionally dead-assed me, and then Vince (McMahon) told him, ‘We’re gonna do it again tomorrow and if you don’t go up tomorrow, you’re fired,’ and we were in San Diego and I pressed him and then when I put him down, I came to the back, walked through Gorilla, ‘Thank you Mark. Good job. Leon, come here.’ I see him crying.
Vince fired him anyway on the spot. Because he sabotaged the show the day before. He just wanted him to come back the next day and do what he wanted him to do. Don’t mess with the old guy… and the thing is I don’t blame him, but he did hire him back. It was a punishment.”
Vince McMahon is currently dealing with the sexual trafficking lawsuit and remains an outcast in professional wrestling. Nevertheless, McMahon’s tendencies will always bring him infamy and that’s never changing.
