Few Big Men have made a mark in pro wrestling like Paul Wight. After a decades-long career in WWE as The Big Show, he set his sights in AEW, and he hasn’t officially hung up his boots yet, either. The former World Champion is still able to go in the ring, although his in-ring outings are few and far between at this point. After having both of his knees replaced, Wight says he’s doing good.

Paul Wight gives an update on his health after having his knees replaced. Wight has not wrestled since the Jericho Cruise in January, but has been on television as a member of the ROH Board of Directors.

Appearing on The Run Home with Joel & Fletch, Wight was asked how his knees are feeling. He said that things are feeling good, but both of his knees are fake. That should also be taken into consideration, because they’re brand-knee knees. He is also not dealing with any of the former issues.

“Knees are good. They’re both fake so there are no problems with them. They’re both brand new. There is no bone-on-bone arthritis. I have a full replacement on my left knee and a partial replacement on my right knee. They are straight, I’m not knot-kneed anymore. We’re doing pretty good. A couple months back, I was working out, and I sheered the titanium button off the kneecap. There is nothing you can do about that. They just had to go in and take the button out because it protects the kneecap. With me sheering off the titanium pin, they just looked at me and went, ‘Eh, there is nothing we can do, it might get sore.’ Some days, if I work out a little too hard, it gets a little sore. So far, it’s coming along good. We’re deadlifting, squatting, leg pressing. Everything is coming along good. I’m very pleased with it so far, considering all the surgeries I’ve had, we’re turning the corner, and I’m really happy about it.”

It is unknown if or when Wight will return to the ring, but fans will remain hopeful. It remains to be seen whether Tony Khan will make a big deal out of Paul Wight’s last match, but it is very plausible that he would give the former Giant from WCW a fair amount of hype for his retirement match.

He has not wrestled on television since the November 15, 2023 episode of AEW Dynamite in the Like A Dragon Gaiden Street Fight. In the match, he was slammed onto a vehicle by Powerhouse Hobbs.
