The relaunch of Maple Leaf Pro Wrestling, spearheaded by former TNA Wrestling President Scott D’Amore, is quickly shaping up as the promotion prepares for its major Forged In Excellence two-night event. The highly anticipated shows are scheduled for October 19 and October 20 at St. Clair College in Windsor, Ontario, Canada. Now we know that two familiar voices will be calling the action.
In a recent update, Maple Leaf Pro announced that current AEW performer Don Callis will join Mauro Ranallo as the commentary duo for the promotion. Callis, known for his roles as Cyrus the Virus in ECW, The Jackal in WWE, and more recently in TNA and AEW, brings his sharp wit and charisma to the broadcast team, adding another layer of excitement to the event.
President of Maple Leaf Pro, Scott D’Amore, released a statement as part of a press release to announce his company’s latest acquisition. He is obviously very happy about having Callis and Mauro on board.
“We mean it when we say MAPLE LEAF PRO will be Forged In Excellence. Just as our two-night Pay-Per-View event on October 19 and 20 will feature the likes of ‘The Maharaja’ Raj Dhesi, Josh Alexander, and Speedball Mike Bailey in the ring, our commentary team will also be the best in class with Mauro Ranallo now joined by Don Callis.”
The promotion’s on-air talent will be supported by an award-winning production team, further solidifying Maple Leaf Pro’s commitment to delivering a top-tier wrestling experience. Timothy J. Walbert, who boasts over four decades of live event experience, including directing WrestleMania and other major events during his eight years with WWE, will direct the Forged In Excellence event. Walbert’s experience spans a wide range of entertainment, from the NFL and MLB to musical acts like Eminem and KISS. His recent work has also helped define the visual style of both TNA Wrestling and AEW.
The creative force behind Maple Leaf Pro’s on-air branding and production is Kevin M. Sullivan, an Emmy and Promax-winning producer. Sullivan has made significant contributions to TNA Wrestling, All-Elite Wrestling, and WWE. His expertise has also shaped the brand identities of major clients, including NBC Universal, Warner Brothers Discovery, and Fox Sports.
Rounding out the production team is Keith Mitchell, a legendary executive producer with five decades of experience in professional wrestling. Mitchell’s dynamic approach contributed to World Class Championship Wrestling’s international success in the 1980s, WCW’s record ratings in the 1990s, and TNA’s growth in the 2000s. More recently, Mitchell’s strategic vision played a crucial role in AEW’s rapid rise in the wrestling industry.
With a powerhouse commentary team and an all-star production crew, Maple Leaf Pro is poised to deliver an unforgettable event this October. We will have to see what happens next, but this pro wrestling company isn’t cutting corners when it comes to the hiring process.
