Hulk Hogan is considered one of the most iconic figures in the history of professional wrestling. During his time in WCW, he was known to have considerable creative control over the company’s backstage decisions.
The Hulkster recently made a statement when asked about his infamous heel turn in 1996 that led him to join forces with Kevin Nash and Scott Hall to form notorious faction, the New World Order (nWo).
Hogan stated that despite having creative control, he did not exercise it the night he turned heel or during his entire run in Ted Turner’s company, which ultimately came to its demise in 2001.
This caught the attention of popular independent star Matt Cardona, who decided to take a jab at Hulk Hogan’s comments. The Indy God took to his X to post the same comments from Hogan’s interview, which could be seen as a possible jab towards the WWE Hall of Famer.
“I Had Creative Control In GCW. I Never Used It. Never Used It The Whole Time.”
While Hulk Hogan will choose to respond to this statement is yet to be seen, he has recently extended his relationship with WWE by signing a five-year contract. Regardless of receiving criticism for his comments over creative control, that night at the 1996 WCW Bash at the Beach set the tone for a major change in the world of professional wrestling and will always be etched as a night for the ages.
