Daniel Garcia is undoubtedly one of the brightest young stars on the AEW roster right now, especially after this return at All In. His in-ring skills have definitely helped set him apart from the rest as well. With that said, Konnan believes Garcia needs to gain weight.
While some believe the era of larger-than-life wrestlers is over, others still struggle to suspend disbelief with smaller competitors in key roles. However, it’s simply a fact that pro wrestling is no longer the land of the giants.
Konnan recently shared his views on Keepin’ It 100, criticizing certain AEW wrestlers for their size. He feels that Daniel Garcia, for example, would benefit from gaining weight to be taken more seriously. Konnan also suggested that wrestlers like Hook, Jack Perry, and Wheeler Yuta might be better suited for lighter divisions due to their smaller physiques.
“Daniel Garcia, for example, needs to bulk up. I just can’t take him seriously when he’s that small. Can’t he take some protein or creatine? … He’s just not clicking with me.
Hook, Jack Perry, [Wheeler] Yuta, they should be, like, in the teenagers or lightweight division, you know what I’m saying?”
We also reported that Daniel Garcia’s AEW contract is set to expire in October this year. In the meantime, Garcia is set to square off against MJF in a singles match, so we’ll have to see how he will fare in the bout before Garcia decides to put on some pounds somewhere down the line.
