ESPN’s Joe Tessitore would make his WWE commentary debut on the September 2 edition of Monday Night RAW. There was a lot of hype for his debut and after his first night as a commentator, Tessitore admitted he wasn’t great on commentary.
Joe Tessitore was clearly having a lot of fun during his debut as a commentator on RAW, especially during Drew McIntyre and CM Punk’s segment on the show, as he displayed a level of passion not seen in a long time.
While speaking in an exclusive interview following his first night on Raw, Tessitore shared his excitement about the experience. He described feeling alive, passionate, and intense, stating that Raw embodies living life in the “red zone,” where everything is heightened. Tessitore called the night “awesome” and full of energy.
”How do I feel? [Points to the fans] This is how I feel. You feel alive. You feel passion, and you feel intensity. You want to live in the red in life. That’s what this is, Raw, live in the red. This was an awesome night.”
Reflecting on the crowd’s warm reception, Tessitore expressed his gratitude. He mentioned how the experience brought out his inner child, as he handed out t-shirts and merchandise, spreading joy among the young fans. He felt the evening was special from start to finish and looked forward to more nights like this.
“I was very into them, it was a great reception. It meant a lot to me. I brought out the little kid in me tonight. I went and I grabbed a bunch of t-shirts and merchandise. I spread the love, and I wanted to see smile on these children’s faces. From start to finish, I thought that what was thread this evening was very special, and it was great to see it. Night one in the books, let’s have many more.”
Tessitore also reminisced about his early WWE fandom, recalling how he once skipped school to meet Big John Studd and rooted for Paul Orndorff. While he admitted he wasn’t great on commentary, he stated that his passion as a fan shone through.
It‘s the kid who skipped school in eighth grade to go meet Big John Studd. It’s the kid who was rooting against the faces to root for Paul Orndorff. That’s the kid that you got tonight. I wasn’t great tonight, I wasn’t great tonight, but I was a passionate fan tonight.”
All in all, fans are very happy with Joe Tessitore’s performance during his debut on Monday Night RAW, so we’ll have to wait and see just how much he will improve in the coming weeks.
