WWE Hall of Famer JBL has recently been making surprise appearances at various independent wrestling events, marking his return to the scene outside of WWE. Despite his legendary status within WWE, these recent bookings did not require approval from the global juggernaut.
In the past few months, JBL has been making waves by appearing at several high-profile events. He first made an appearance alongside Nic Nemeth at AAA’s Triplemania event, followed by a shocking return at GCW’s Homecoming event, where he delivered a devastating punch and two Clotheslines from Hell to Effy. Most recently, JBL surprised fans by showing up at TNA’s Emergence special event and a recent Ohio Valley Wrestling show, further solidifying his presence outside WWE.
During a Fightful Select Q&A podcast, Sean Ross Sapp was asked about JBL’s recent activity in the independent wrestling scene. Sapp revealed that the promotions booking JBL for these appearances did not need approval from WWE, even though JBL is reportedly under a Legends deal with the company.
“I don’t know if he’s under WWE contract but I know these people that booked him haven’t gone through WWE to do it, if that makes sense. So they haven’t needed approval from WWE on their end,” Sapp explained.
JBL’s ability to appear at various promotions without WWE’s involvement raises questions about his current contractual status with WWE. However, it also highlights the possibility of broader connections between WWE and other wrestling organizations, as the wrestling landscape continues to evolve.
As fans eagerly await JBL’s next move, his recent appearances have sparked speculation about where he might show up next. His involvement in the independent scene adds an element of unpredictability and excitement, leaving fans curious about which promotion will be lucky enough to have the “Wrestling God” make a surprise appearance.
