WWE has a lot of things going on, and much of the main roster just got back from a tour of Germany that ended with Bash in Berlin. They have a RAW to take care of tonight in Denver, but one advertised match won’t be going down as planned.
On the September 2 episode of WWE RAW, six Superstars were set to compete in two thrilling triple threat matches for a chance to advance to the quarterfinals of the Intercontinental Championship tournament. The winners of these matches would then face either Jey Uso or Pete Dunne, with the ultimate goal of challenging Bron Breakker for his title. The matches featured Ilja Dragunov, Dragon Lee, and Dominik Mysterio in one bout, while Sheamus, Bronson Reed, and Ludwig Kaiser were slated to compete in the other.
However, recent reports indicate a significant change for tonight’s WWE RAW. Although the triple threat match involving Sheamus and Ludwig Kaiser will proceed as planned, Bronson Reed will not be participating as initially advertised. We later reported that Reed posted a positive COVID test on Instagram before swiftly deleting it.
WWE has now confirmed that Bronson Reed is out of the IC Title Tournament match for the September 2 episode of RAW. They made this announcement through a social media post, where Adam Pearce made the news official.
The WWE RAW General Manager broke the news that Bronson Reed has COVID-19, so he is out of the match, because he is medically disqualified. While it is transparent to see WWE openly admit to one of their stars testing positive for COVID, they still did not have a replacement ready to announce.
This timing is particularly unfortunate for Reed, who has been making a significant impact in WWE. He recently took out Seth Rollins with a series of devastating Tsunamis, Braun Strowman in a match that became a dramatic parking lot brawl.
