WWE has invited a few notable names from outside pro wrestling to take a seat at the commentary table. People like Mauro Ranallo, Kevin Patrick, Jimmy Smith and Mike Adamle might not have lasted, even though Ranallo is one of the greatest play-by-play men in the combat sports game, but WWE is continuing this tradition with Joe Tessitore. There is a lot of hype behind that as well.
There’s growing excitement in the wrestling world as renowned sports personality Joe Tessitore makes his debut on WWE RAW tonight. Tessitore, a seasoned ESPN analyst, is set to bring a professional tone to the red brand, something WWE has been seeking to enhance its broadcast presentation. Known for his work on Monday Night Football, Top Rank Boxing, and several BCS bowl games, Tessitore’s extensive experience in the sports industry has generated high expectations for his performance.
According to WrestleVotes, Joe Tessitore is expected to work closely with WWE’s veteran commentator Michael Cole during the early stages of his tenure. Cole, a strong advocate for Tessitore, will continue his duties as the voice of SmackDown on Friday nights. This partnership could mark an exciting new chapter for WWE’s commentary team.
“Many within WWE, especially on the production side, are fired up for Joe Tessitore’s debut tonight on RAW.
A proven sportscaster with years of experience, including Monday Night Football, Top Rank Boxing, and multiple BCS bowl games, Tessitore brings a professional tone WWE has been seeking. He’ll work closely with Michael Cole in the early stages, with Cole being a strong supporter of Tessitore.”
Paul Heyman added to the anticipation by hyping up Tessitore’s arrival on social media, fueling speculation about how the seasoned broadcaster will fit into WWE’s unique environment. Obviously, this is a big night for the red brand.
WWE RAW will remain on the USA Network for the rest of 2024. Then they will move to Netflix for their January 6 episode. Only time will tell how Joe Tessitore pans out in WWE, but he will have some big shoes to fill and a fan base paying very close attention to his every word.
Pat McAfee had to leave the WWE RAW commentary table because of his football commitments. It’s not out of the realm of possibility to assume that he will be back with a headset on at ringside the moment his schedule clears up.
