The wrestling world is excited because Netflix has announced that its documentary about Vince McMahon, called Mr. McMahon, will come out on September 25. As the date gets closer, RVD has shared that he chose not to take part in the documentary.
Originally announced in 2020, the Netflix documentary has been years in the making, with uncertainty clouding its release due to the sexual trafficking lawsuit and other allegations that have tarnished McMahon’s legacy. However, it was later confirmed that the series would definitely move forward.
While speaking on his 1 of a Kind podcast, RVD revealed that he was asked to participate in the Vince McMahon documentary, but he declined. He explained that the decision not to participate was due to his position in the wrestling industry, which made it unsuitable for him.
Instead, he chose to observe the documentary as a viewer. RVD expressed his anticipation for the documentary, hoping it would cover a wide range of topics rather than focusing solely on the main elements of the story.
“They did contact me a couple of times, actually, about participating in the interviews, and it wasn’t something that I opted to do. It wasn’t a choice that would be conducive with my position in the business, in the industry, so I passed and told them I look forward to seeing it. And I do, and I hope that they cover a lot of different grounds instead of just jumping to the main pillars of whatever story they choose to tell.”
Some also believe that Vince McMahon’s documentary will be a fair assessment of the former WWE Chairman. Cody Rhodes thinks there is misinformation in terms of WWE having no involvement with the documentary. We’ll have to wait and see how fans respond to the documentary, as there’s a lot of excitement but also some skepticism about the series.
