The Bloodline has been ruling over Friday Night SmackDown with an iron fist for ever months now, as they also hold tag team gold. With that said, they were absent from SmackDown last week and the reason for their absence has been revealed.

WWE’s main roster recently traveled to Europe for Friday Night SmackDown and Bash in Berlin, held at the Uber Arena in Germany’s capital. The go-home edition of SmackDown featured notable matches, including the return of Bayley, a Street Fight for the WWE Women’s Title between Nia Jax and Michin, and a United States Championship match between LA Knight and Ludwig Kaiser. However, The Bloodline, one of the top factions on SmackDown led by Solo Sikoa, did not participate in any segments during the show.

According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer, The Bloodline was absent from SmackDown due to the funeral of Afa Anoa’i, which took place over the weekend. Although the group had been in Europe for WWE’s house shows leading up to Bash in Berlin, they returned home for the funeral.

The Bloodline now includes Solo Sikoa, Jacob Fatu, Tama Tonga, and Tonga Loa. The group is currently experiencing a civil war that seems likely to continue until Survivor Series, where The Bloodline will face off against a Roman Reigns-led team inside WarGames. Regardless, we’ll have to wait and see how WWE will book The Bloodline in the coming weeks.
