Nic Nemeth, formerly known as Dolph Ziggler, was released from WWE in September, which definitely shocked many fans. However, he has since thrived in the business after his release and even became the TNA World Champion. He has now addressed possibly returning to WWE during the company’s ongoing collaboration with TNA.
After concluding a quiet yet impactful 20-year tenure with WWE, Nemeth quickly made waves in the wrestling world in 2024. He joined TNA Wrestling and wasted no time becoming a major name there.
While speaking on the Battleground Podcast, Nic Nemeth was asked about the possibility of returning to WWE NXT, where he was a champion in 2022, Nemeth showed little interest. He feels that he has already achieved everything he wanted in NXT and doesn’t see much value in going back. However, he’s open to the idea if it could benefit the company in a significant way, like bringing in a world champion for a special event.
Nemeth is more interested in potential challenges from WWE’s main roster, like on Monday Night Raw or SmackDown. Although he’s focused on his current work outside WWE, he hinted that his disinterest in returning to NXT could make it more surprising if he ever does decide to return.
“NXT, I have no interest. I’ve done that already. What’s the payoff? I don’t become NXT champion like I already did two years ago. If there’s a payoff for the company, to have like, hey, we’re bringing in our world champ and it’s going to be something special, I am all ears to help both companies make it just one notch bigger and better.
There really is something that, like as the world champ, I could show up and it would be a big deal I hope, but right now for me, unfinished business in NXT or something that would just me showing up to do something, I don’t know what the payoff would be, but also someone on Monday Night Raw or SmackDown making a challenge, that would be different, someone I haven’t worked with.
I was in NXT for a while. I was champion and I worked with Bron Breakker, which, man, the kid’s freaking awesome, but I don’t know what I can accomplish there. If there is any algorithm or business paperwork or data that says, hey, this is going to be huge if you show up, let’s make it happen. 100% I will be there. But also, the more I talk down and say I’m not going, it makes it a bigger surprise when I show up.”
With more and more TNA and WWE stars making their presence felt during the ongoing collaboration, we will have to wait and see if Nic Nemeth will still make his return somehow, as fan would love to see that happen.
