Matt Hardy Sets the Record Straight on Alleged Heat with Sammy Guevara

Sammy Guevara has been a consistent figure on AEW television since his debut in 2019. However, he has been involved in several incidents where his opponents were injured. Recently, Matt Hardy addressed rumors about having issues with Guevara, responding to speculation about any heat between them.

Sammy Guevara was suspended earlier this year due to his role in a match against Jeff Hardy on February 14th. During this contest, Jeff Hardy sustained an injury, and it seems that proper concussion protocol was not followed. Additionally, Guevara performed his finishing move on Hardy, a maneuver that should not have been executed.

There have been rumors circulating online about possible tension between Matt Hardy and Sammy Guevara, especially after that incident with Jeff Hardy. While speaking during the Extreme Life of Matt Hardy podcast, Matt Hardy addressed these rumors by stating that there is no animosity between him and Sammy. In fact, Matt emphasized that they have a strong relationship and communicate often through text.

Hardy described Sammy as a passionate young wrestler who is still learning and growing in the industry, much like Matt did during his early years. Despite the ups and downs they’ve experienced in AEW, Matt believes Sammy has a good heart and wants the best for everyone in the business.

“Me and him have quite a bit of history, ups and downs in AEW and it’s still strange in some ways to think about how people think there’s such a disdain between us, but there’s not. We’re actually really close. We text a lot, no hatred, and we’re cool with one another. There’ll be times where I’ll get a text for him, like, when I showed up at TNA, when I was going to do the GCW, he’s just like, ‘Man, it’s just so inspiring how you’re able to go out there and create buzz and you’re willing to do different things to keep your name in the news and I just want to let you know.’ He’s a younger kid and he’s learning as he experiences these things through and through. I mean, I certainly did it as well. I certainly fu**ed up more than my share in my earlier years as well and people are going to. That’s just something you have to learn as it goes on. At the end of the end of the day, I really do believe Sammy is a guy with a really good heart and I think he wants what’s best for everybody else. He’s just someone who’s just extremely passionate about pro wrestling. He loves it so, so much.”

Matt Hardy also revealed how Sammy Guevara developed his reckless worker reputation in AEW. Sammy Guevara has grown significantly since 2020, now balancing his career with fatherhood. Despite this maturity, he occasionally still faces issues due to in-ring accidents. Fans are hopeful that Guevara can stay out of trouble and continue to make a positive impact as he returns to television.
