Ricochet’s move from WWE to AEW has created a ton of hype, especially after his impressive debut at AEW All In at Wembley Stadium. However, Jim Cornette has now called out AEW over a mistake they made with Ricochet’s debut.
Despite not winning the Casino Gauntlet at AEW All In, Ricochet left a lasting impact on fans with his standout performance. His high-flying maneuvers and electrifying in-ring style, even in a short appearance, highlighted his exceptional talent and solidified his presence as a formidable competitor in AEW.
However, fans were disappointed with the outcome as many wanted him to win over Christian Cage. On the latest episode of the Jim Cornette Experience, Jim Cornette shared his thoughts on AEW’s decision to have Ricochet lose in his debut match at AEW All In. Cornette questioned why Ricochet was included in the Casino Gauntlet if he wasn’t going to win or be the central story of the match, emphasizing that his debut should have been spotlighted and called out AEW for this mistake.
“Why did Ricochet have to be in this thing if he wasn’t not only going to win it but wasn’t even going to start and go all the way through and be the phenomenal story of the match.”
Cornette also praised Christian Cage’s abilities, noting that while Cage is a better worker than most on the roster, the match’s outcome should have focused on elevating Ricochet. He argued that no one else should have won a match involving Ricochet’s debut except Ricochet himself.
“He [Christian Cage] can work better than most of these people….then don’t have him win a match that involves the debut of Ricochet. Don’t have anybody win the match that involves the debut of Ricochet except Ricochet.”
Ricochet also explained why he feels leaving WWE for AEW was the right choice. Nevertheless, we’ll have to wait and see how Ricochet will be booked in the coming weeks, as there are a lot of expectations for his success.
