Ricky Starks, a standout talent in AEW since 2020, has been absent from television since late March this year. Recently, he addressed and dismissed rumors that he had rejected creative ideas in AEW, setting the record straight.
On the March 30 episode of AEW Collision, Ricky Starks appeared to suffer an injury during a tag team title tournament match where he and Big Bill faced Top Flight. This match marked his last appearance on AEW television, and he has not been seen since, with the reasons for his absence remaining unclear.
A fan took to Twitter and commented on Ricky Starks, stating that anyone aiming to be a top champion needs to first prove they can handle smaller tasks. The fan suggested that Starks’ attitude toward these smaller opportunities—pouting and disagreeing with creative decisions—was the main reason he didn’t receive bigger opportunities.
”Literally anyone who is going to be pushed as a top champion needs to prove that they can handle the smaller things first. – The fact that his attitude when given the smaller opportunities was to pout and disagree with creative is the main reason why he didn’t get bigger shots.”
Ricky Starks saw what the fan had to say and responded to the same, as he made it clear that he never turned down any creative plans in AEW at all.
”Enough is enough. Usually I don’t even speak on this but it’s tired I never turned down anything, EVER. Just Stop.”
AEW President Tony Khan recently confirmed that Ricky Starks remains contracted to the company. WWE NXT also has significant interest in signing Ricky Starks whenever he will be available. Regardless, we’ll have to see what will become of The Absolute One in the end.
