Kevin Owens Aims to Face John Cena at WWE Premium Live Event During Retirement Tour

At the 2024 WWE Money in the Bank event in Toronto, John Cena announced his retirement from professional wrestling. Interestingly enough, Kevin Owens wants to face John Cena at a Premium Live Event.

Many fans remember that Kevin Owens made his debut on Monday Night RAW against John Cena in 2015 while he was the NXT Champion. Owens made a surprising entrance by accepting Cena’s United States Championship open challenge.

At WWE Elimination Chamber 2015, Kevin Owens defeated John Cena in his first match on the main roster and the match occurred on May 31, 2015.

While speaking to Lewis Browning of Daily Mail, Owens has expressed interest in facing Cena again. He pointed out that May 31, 2025, which will mark the 10th anniversary of their first match, falls on a Saturday. This timing could align well with WWE events or a Premium Live Event. Owens mentioned that it would be incredible to have a rematch on the exact anniversary, but he’s also open to facing Cena at any time during his retirement tour.

”Funnily enough – I’m going to put it out there now. I’ve noticed that May 31, 2025 – which would be the 10th anniversary of our first match together at Elimination Chamber – is a Saturday night, which lends itself incredibly well to WWE events, and maybe even a PLE. Who knows? Of course I want to be one of John Cena’s opponents in his last year, but if it could happen that night, that would be pretty incredible, 10 years to the day after the first one. But obviously, I’d be happy to face him at any point.”

John Cena also explained why he will retire from in-ring competition in 2025, so we will have to wait and see whether John Cena will end up facing off against Kevin Owens again, especially at a Premium Live Event.
