Ricochet’s move from WWE to AEW has created a ton of buzz, especially after his impressive debut at AEW All In at Wembley Stadium. However, Jim Ross has advised AEW to avoid rushing Ricochet’s progress.

Although Ricochet didn’t win the Casino Gauntlet at AEW All In, he made a significant impression on fans with his performance. His high-flying moves and dynamic style, even during his brief time in the match, showcased his skills and established him as a major presence in AEW.

While speaking on his Grilling JR podcast, Jim Ross cautioned AEW against rushing Ricochet’s progress. He notes that many AEW wrestlers are highly athletic and perform impressive spots, making it important for Ricochet to stand out over time.

According to Ross, wrestling fans, especially casual ones, remember the last time they saw a particular spot, and these moves often come with new names and backstories. He hopes AEW will allow Ricochet to develop organically, as he is not fully over yet. While acknowledging Ricochet’s potential and athleticism, Ross emphasizes the need for him to establish his offense and master the fundamentals before moving forward.

“I think the thing that we have to be cautious about is not rushing his progress. Because so many guys in AEW are athletic to the level of doing amazing spots, it takes time to differentiate yourself from those guys. To some wrestling fans, who are more casual, they remember the last time they saw a particular spot, and it’s got a new name and so forth. All those moves and finishes now have backstories, which is fine, but if that’s the case and we can agree on that, then hopefully AEW will not rush Ricochet.

Because he’s not over right now. People love to see him—he was a surprise, and I’ve said it many times here on the show: wrestling fans love new and love to be surprised, and Ricochet checked both of those boxes at Wembley. But let’s let him get over. I love the kid; he’s got a great upside, he’s so athletic. But let’s let him establish some of his offense, watch him excel in the fundamentals, and see where it takes us.”

Ricochet also explained why he feels leaving WWE for AEW was the right choice. Ricochet also won his AEW Dynamite debut last week, so we will have to wait and see how Ricochet will fare in AEW in the coming weeks, as fans want him to succeed in a big way.
