The wrestling world is excited because Netflix has announced the release date for its documentary about Vince McMahon, called Mr. McMahon. The series will premiere on September 25. As the release date gets closer, some people believe the documentary will give a fair and balanced view of McMahon’s life and career.
Originally announced in 2020, the Netflix documentary has been years in the making, with uncertainty clouding its release due to the sexual trafficking lawsuit and other allegations that have rocked McMahon’s legacy. However, it was later confirmed that the series would definitely move forward.
Many fans are curious about how accurately the series will portray Vince McMahon’s story. While speaking on The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy, shared his thoughts, believing that Netflix will aim to maintain credibility in their portrayal.
Hardy believed that the series would likely offer a fair assessment of McMahon’s life, acknowledging both his role as an innovator and the “greatest promoter of all time” while also covering his eventual downfall. Hardy suggested that even with a balanced portrayal, the series could still be a net positive for WWE, generating interest as the company’s debut on Netflix approaches.
“My guess is that Netflix and company, they’re gonna want to stay credible, so I guess — yes — it does end up being a pretty fair assessment of kinda what we know. It definitely should generate interest in WWE leading up to their debut on Netflix.”
With that said, Cody Rhodes believes there is misinformation in terms of WWE having no involvement with the documentary. Regardless, we’ll have to see how the documentary will be received by fans, as there is a lot of anticipation but skepticism regarding the series.
