WrestleMania’s yearly location always brings a ton of interest from all over the world, and it also rakes in millions of dollars in outside revenue. There was a repot earlier today based on something that the Pennsylvania Governor said, but it was taken out of context.
Following the success of WrestleMania 2024 in Philadelphia, WWE has already planned WrestleMania 41 for Las Vegas in 2025. That Mania 41 event is likely to be a huge one in Sin City, as it will also be a stop on John Cena’s retirement tour.
Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro recently hinted that WrestleMania 42 will return to Philadelphia in 2026 as part of the USA 250 celebrations, mentioning it during a Q&A video on Twitter. He tweeted out to boast about all the great things coming to Philly, and WrestleMania was in that tweet.
“So get this, in Philly, we’ve got the Major League Baseball All-Star Game, we got the FIFA World Cup, we got WrestleMania, we got a little golf action, the PGA Championship, and if you go over to Pittsburgh, we’ve got the NFL Draft and a lot more cool stuff happening all across Pennsylvania in the year 2026 for USA 250.”
PW Insider has now reported clearing up exactly what is going on in this situation. It was noted that several WWE sources expressed surprise this morning at Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro’s mention of WrestleMania 2026 taking place in Philadelphia, noting that this was not something that had been discussed internally. According to a well-placed source involved in the decision-making process, the location for WrestleMania 2026 had not been finalized as of this writing.
Some within the company speculated that Shapiro may have been referring to WWE events in general, rather than WrestleMania specifically, and may have misspoken. However, they could not confirm whether this was the case. It seems that fans in Philly may have to wait a while to get another show of shows, but WWE is certain to give the City of Brotherly Love even more love in the form of big shows before then.
