Cody Rhodes has been on a hot streak as the Undisputed WWE Champion. He proved his worth yet again at WWE’s latest Premium Live Event, Bash in Berlin, by putting down Kevin Owens to retain his title.

At the post-show press conference, The American Nightmare was asked about a potential match with his close friend and former mentor, Randy Orton, a match that has been speculated ever since Rhodes returned to WWE.

Cody Rhodes stated that the match would be very much different than any of their previous encounters, also highlighting his first-ever match with RAW being against Randy Orton when he started his career.

The American Nightmare acknowledged the potential of the in-ring showdown but stated that there has to be a lot of build-up for this ‘Teacher vs Student’ storyline. However, in the end, Rhodes admitted that currently there were no plans for the match.

Randy Orton came up short in his quest to become World Champion at Bash in Berlin, being defeated by GUNTHER in the main event. This could possibly lead to Orton shifting his focus on Rhodes and his title, setting the tone for their much-awaited rivalry in the coming future.
