Former WWE Chairman Vince McMahon’s life is filled with drama and controversy. Bill Simmons’ Netflix docuseries, titled Mr. McMahon, is set to explore McMahon’s life and career in depth and will premiere on September 25, 2024 on the streaming platform.
The Vince McMahon documentary has been years in the making after initially being announced in 2020. Its release was uncertain for a time due to the serious legal challenges McMahon has faced, including allegations of sexual misconduct and a high-profile trafficking lawsuit. Despite these significant obstacles, Netflix confirmed that the series would move forward, with a focus on both McMahon’s achievements and the controversies that have surrounded him.
The documentary will consist of six one-hour episodes, each offering a detailed exploration of the man who not only revolutionized the world of professional wrestling with WWE but also became embroiled in numerous scandals, with the Executive Producer also revealing the goal behind this Netflix project.
However, Brandon Thrust of Wrestlenomics noted on Twitter that WWE does not have production credits on the series, as confirmed to him by a source with knowledge of the project, indicating that the docuseries aims to present an independent perspective on McMahon’s story.
“Another note to add: WWE does not have production credits on the series, a source with knowledge of the project tells Wrestlenomics & POST Wrestling.”
As anticipation builds for the release, many are curious about how the series will be received, especially given the timing, with WWE’s RAW soon to be featured on Netflix as well. This adds another layer of interest for wrestling fans, who will have more reasons to subscribe to the streaming platform.
