Warner Bros. Discovery has played a crucial role as the broadcaster for AEW’s flagship programs, including Dynamite, Rampage, and Collision. In fact, it appears they have now corrected the viewership for this week’s episode of AEW Dynamite as well.
As reported earlier, the August 28th edition of AEW Dynamite drew 691,000 viewers and achieved a rating of 0.22 in the coveted 18-49 demographic. This was a decrease from last week’s show, which got 698,000 viewers and a demo rating of 0.23.
However, Fightful Select reports that AEW Dynamite’s viewership for the August 28 episode has been updated. Initially, the show was reported to have an average of 691,000 viewers, but the corrected number is closer to 697,000. This adjustment was due to Nielsen’s timing issues with sports and programs that run over, which resulted in three additional minutes being counted for AEW. This added approximately 6,000 viewers.
According to WBD sources, the focus is less on the overall viewer count and more on the show’s ranking on cable. This week, Dynamite topped the cable rankings for the P18-49 demographic.
AEW and Warner Bros. Discovery’s exclusive rights window has closed and Tony Khan remains optimistic about securing a good deal with Warner Bros Discovery. Regardless, we’ll have to see what kind of deal they will ultimately reach, as Dynamite’s ratings were more or less equal to last week’s ratings.
