WWE has seen a few Superstars depart from the company over the past year. Although Tony Khan has held off on having them all come in to work for his pro wrestling companies, he has booked a few of them. Reggie, who is now performing as Sidney Akeem, is one former Superstar who is very glad to be a part of Tony Khan’s operation.
He was also known in WWE as Reginald and the masked SCRYPTS character, but now Sidney Akeem is doing his own thing outside the company. He recently made his debut with Ring of Honor and expressed his gratitude to Tony Khan for the opportunity.
Sidney Akeem’s ROH debut, where he faced Johnny TV, was taped on August 11, 2024, and aired on August 29. Although he didn’t secure a victory in his debut match, Akeem took to Twitter to share a message of thanks and inspiration.
“For real, I’m just a guy from Walnut Park..A lot of people don’t make it out of where I come from. #favorofgod
“Thank you @TonyKhan @ringofhonor until I make more magic in that squared circle 😤😎”
In April 2024, reports surfaced that Akeem was set to leave WWE when his contract expired on June 1 of that year. His final WWE match took place at a WWE NXT Live house show on April 20, 2024, where Out of the Mud were defeated by Ivar & Tank Ledger.
Akeem made his independent wrestling debut on June 15 at GCW Hit Em Up, where he secured a victory against Jack Cartwheel. He is only getting started at this point, and it is apparent that he is very thankful for every opportunity he receives.
The former Sommelier of Carmella signed with WWE in January 2020 and made his on-screen debut on December 11 of that year on WWE SmackDown, later known simply as Reginald. He went through a couple changes when it comes to his character, and although he had a ton of potential in WWE, things simply didn’t work out for him this time around. Only time will tell if his road leads him back to the company, but he’s happy to be working for Tony Khan however he can.
