Kevin Owens has been a pivotal figure in WWE since his impactful debut in NXT back in 2014. Over the years, he has captured multiple championships and delivered countless memorable moments, solidifying his status as one of the company’s most reliable performers.
However, as of May 2024, Owens revealed that his current WWE contract is set to expire in early 2025, and as of now, no extension is in place. During an interview with Metro, Owens mentioned that he has nine months left on his deal and emphasized that he doesn’t take anything for granted when it comes to his wrestling career. He confirmed that there has been no change in his contractual status.
In a recent conversation with Uproxx, Owens further opened up about his future in the wrestling industry, stating that he doesn’t envision himself wrestling for another decade. Instead, he sees himself continuing for another 5-6 years, provided the opportunities and circumstances align favorably.
“I don’t have a decade left here. Another 5, 6 years or something if the opportunities are there and the circumstances are right,” Owens shared.
While Owens expressed a desire for another championship run, particularly to make his daughter happy, his main focus remains on leaving a lasting impact on fans and helping to develop future talent within the industry.
“Mainly, though, I really just want everything I do to be memorable and enjoyable for people watching, and I really want to help the future of the industry. Whether, you could say work with the younger talent or whatever, but it’s not even necessarily younger talent, there’s talent of all ages that are coming up, that are developing. And I want to have a blast doing it,” Owens said.
As Owens prepares for his upcoming match against Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Championship at the WWE Bash in Berlin Premium Live Event, fans are eager to see how “The Prizefighter” will continue to shape his legacy in the wrestling world.
