Rhea Ripley has risen as one of the most compelling WWE superstars of this generation. Mami has not only captivated that audience’s attention with her in-ring style, but her unorthodox personality, that includes a huge number of tattoos on her body.
In the latest edition of WWE: Tattooed, Rhea Ripley revealed the significance of her first tattoo that she got along with current AEW star Timeless Toni Storm. Ripley revealed the tattoo “X. XXVIII” to be on her wrist, being the date of the WWE Evolution pay-per-view, which coincidentally was also the date when she first tried out for RIOT City wrestling in Australia. Rhea labelled the date as the start of her wrestling career and Women’s Evolution, a significant change for women in wrestling.
“My first tattoo was … it’s here on my wrist … and it’s the date of the Evolution pay-per-view and I went the day before Evolution with Toni Storm and the funny thing about this date and why it is so special is coz it was the exact same date six years prior that I tried out for RIOT City wrestling in Australia. So it is technically the start of my wrestling career and it is also the start of the Women’s Evolution, which I think was absolutely wild, so we both got matching little tatoos.”
Furthermore, Ripley also highlighted the fact the Evolution pay-per-view was also the first time she got to defend her NXT UK Women’s Championship on a big stage. She was part of the opening match with Dakota Kai and felt awesome to be among the first people that the audience saw at a landmark event for women in wrestling.
“I not only started wrestling on this date, it was the first time that I got to defend my NXT Women’s UK Championship on a big show, coz it had not been televised that I had won the championship yet. So Dakota and I actually opened Evolution. To go out there and be the first people on the show that everyone sees, it was just a really special day and really was the start of my awesome career here within the WWE.”
Rhea Ripley has surely come a long way since that pay-per-view and become a cornerstone for the WWE women’s division today. She will be next seen in action at WWE’s upcoming Premium Live Event, Bash in Berlin.
Mami will team up with her terror twin, Damian Priest, to compete against their heated rivals, Dominik Mysterio and Liv Morgan, in a mixed tag team match, which is expected to be a stellar showdown on the card in Germany.
