WWE Hall of Famer Mick Foley is celebrated for his legendary career and iconic matches across wrestling promotions. He was determined to have a retirement match before health issues ruined that. With that said, it appears he has now revealed scrapped plans for an extended retirement program with MJF.

Mick Foley disclosed his contemplation of emerging from retirement for a final match on his 60th birthday. The Hall of Famer clarified that if this return were to materialize, it would be within the context of deathmatch, explicitly stating that it would have to be held outside of WWE.

However, Mick Foley called off the match after revealing that he suffered concussion earlier this year and this certainly disappointed fans in a big way as they wanted to see him wrestle.

At Nickel City Comic-Con, Mick Foley revealed his thoughts on potential opponents for his final match. He mentioned that he had a meeting with former AEW World Champion MJF, who had a well-thought-out plan for the match, including six weeks of compelling TV storylines. Foley was impressed by MJF’s ideas and felt confident that he could work around Foley’s weaknesses while highlighting his strengths.

Foley revealed that although they didn’t take a photo together to keep the meeting secret, he was very pleased with MJF’s proposal. He believed MJF’s current skill level and creativity would have led to a great final match.

”Man, when I was thinking of having that last match, I’ll tell you what, when I announced that intention, there were no shortage of people from every promotion reaching out to me and one guy I probably would have gone with because he’d clearly done some thinking about it and lined out six great weeks of TV was MJF… We didn’t take a photo together because we didn’t wanna ruin the secret meeting but, I heard what he had to say, I really liked it. I had no doubt that he would have pulled it off perfectly and you know, he’s so good and in his prime that he could have worked around my weaknesses and played to my strengths and I think we could have done something pretty cool. MJF. Final answer. Take that, Matt Cardona (Foley laughed).”

The Hardcore Legend is feeling much better now, and fans are relieved to see him in good health. However, it’s a missed opportunity that Mick Foley and MJF never had a feud on television, as it would have been a solid program that many fans would have loved to see.
