Interviews Underway for Mick Foley’s Dark Side of the Ring Episode

The pro wrestling world is brimming with incredible personalities, and that’s a big part of why fans keep coming back week after week, sometimes even daily, for more action. The stories behind the scenes are just as captivating, and no one tells those tales better than Dark Side of the Ring.

Taping for season six of Dark Side of the Ring is underway, and there is a list of rumored names. On his Grilling JR podcast, Jim Ross revealed that he recently recorded an interview for Dark Side of the Ring focusing on Mick Foley. While he didn’t share much more information, it’s clear that the wheels are in motion for Foley’s episode this year.

This is a fantastic choice, given that Foley and Ross worked together for many years during their careers, particularly during the Attitude Era when Ross was calling some of Foley’s most legendary matches against The Rock, Steve Austin, and The Undertaker.

“I did an interview the other day on Mick Foley’s ‘Dark Side’ piece. They really liked it. Evan (Husney) and those guys really liked it, they told me. It’s very honest. That will be coming up whenever it’s released. I don’t know. They told me it’s a key part of their feature. One of my favorite topics. Mick Foley. How can you not love him?”

Dark Side of the Ring has already received widespread acclaim. It premiered as Vice’s highest-rated series debut among viewers in the key demographic. The first season won the Wrestling Observer Newsletter Award for Best Pro Wrestling DVD/Streaming Documentary of 2019. The season 2 finale, “The Final Days of Owen Hart,” not only won the same award for 2020 but also became the highest-rated program in Vice network history, with 626,000 viewers. In 2021, the episodes on Brian Pillman earned the award, and in 2023, the “Chris and Tammy” episode also took home the honor.

Season six of Dark Side of the Ring is currently in production, although no premiere date has been announced yet. While we know Mick Foley will be featured, it’s anyone’s guess how many more accolades the series will collect. At this point, Dark Side of the Ring may very well be the last show standing on Vice, proving that the world of pro wrestling will never run out of compelling stories.
