AEW has numerous roles to fill each week, and not all of them are starring parts. The extras on television play a crucial role as well, and it seems the company utilized a notable name in one of those positions this week.

During the August 28 episode of Dynamite, MJF delivered a fiery promo where he denounced his American citizenship and called out Daniel Garcia. Security eventually intervened, and some fans may have recognized one of the security personnel.

Sean Ross Sapp reported on Fightful Select that former NWA talent Joe Alonzo played the role of security in the MJF/Daniel Garcia segment. Alonzo was also the security guard who “noped” out during the Moxley/Marina Shafir segment. This was an intriguing role for him to take on.

At 27 years old, Alonzo has been wrestling since 2016 and has gained considerable experience on the indie scene. However, this appearance on AEW Dynamite is likely one he won’t forget anytime soon. Whether he can turn this extra role into something more substantial remains to be seen, but he certainly had a lot of eyes on him this week.

MJF and Daniel Garcia are set to clash on September 7 at All Out in Chicago. The match was booked during this week’s episode of Dynamite, and it will be interesting to see if Tony Khan adds a stipulation to the bout. Regardless, Garcia and MJF already have plenty of reasons to go to war.

What’s your take on AEW using Joe Alonzo in this capacity? Do you think he’ll return to AEW? Share your thoughts in the comments section!
