Mercedes Mone successfully defended her AEW TBS Championship against Britt Baker at AEW All In. Britt Baker was making her return to the ring after a long hiatus, and the lead-up to their match was filled with plenty of talk. In the end, Mone had her big moment in Wembley Stadium. She also made her way to the ring at Wembley in a very expensive getup.
Mone was highlighted in a big way at the event, as she defeated Britt Baker to retain her TBS Championship. This was Mone’s sixth defense of the title that she won back at the Double Or Nothing pay-per-view in May.
Mercedes Mone also commented on ‘Mixed Reactions’ For AEW All In match, she says she would have done a lot differently. This was quite an admission, as she is usually very sure of herself.
During the latest edition of her Mone Mag newsletter, ‘The C.E.O’ stated that she spent over $10K on her outfit for the event. This may be a drop in the bucket for her massive AEW contract, but it was certainly an investment.
“My hair wasn’t the only thing that cost a pretty penny. My robe, which was so beautiful, grand, and regal, was also my most expensive in my 14 years of wrestling. The whole outfit, in total, cost me over $10,000, All In (no pun intended).“
“As far as wrestlers investing so much money into their attire, it really depends on where they’re at in their career. If you’re not there salary wise, you try to find cheaper ways to look your best and it’s for sure possible. I did. When it comes to the biggest events, you invest all that you can. These stages are huge and these moments last forever so you want to put your best foot forward. It doesn’t always come down to money. It comes down to investing the time, being creative and resourceful. Doing so elevates standards and elevates your character. I feel it’s all worth it, and in the end, it does pay off. I hope to teach this sentiment to some of the younger girls on our roster.“
Mercedes is set to return to action at NJPW Capital Collision, where she will defend her NJPW Strong Women’s Title against Momo Watanabe. While her future in AEW and the TBS Title remains to be seen, Mercedes certainly made a statement at All In.
When she was Sasha Banks, Mercedes Mone was married to WWE’s ring gear maker, Sarath Ton. She has since divorced him, meaning it’s very unlikely that he is still making her gear. Either way, it’s nice to know that she’s still making some gear maker a big payday.
Ringside News will continue to cover this story and much more. The world of wrestling is always unpredictable, and we’re here to bring you all the breaking news and updates. Mercedes Mone isn’t holding back, and we’ll be following her journey closely.
