Matt Riddle’s time in WWE was tumultuous, ruined by controversies stemming from his disturbing conduct outside the ring, ultimately leading to his unexpected release last year. With that said, it appears he was relieved after his WWE firing.

Since parting ways with WWE, Riddle has been actively involved in various wrestling promotions, including Major League Wrestling and New Japan Pro Wrestling, among others.

While speaking to the New York Post, Matt Riddle talked about his time in WWE. It was noted that while enjoyed his time in WWE but found the demanding schedule and frequent travel left him home only one full day a week.

This intense routine took a toll on his personal life, contributing to his divorce from his first wife, Lisa, in March 2022, after 11 years of marriage and having three children. The combination of being away from home and the pressure of balancing work responsibilities made it difficult for him to manage family life and personal obligations effectively.

”The King of Bros said he loved his time in WWE, but the work schedule and travel at the time had him home one full day a week.”

”Riddle and his first wife, Lisa, divorced in March 2022 after 11 years of marriage and three kids. Being home less than he felt he needed to be didn’t help matters.”

“Even though I was making great money, my family life deteriorated, I got divorced and other things and then on top of that just being able to see the kids, then just taking care of responsibilities,” Riddle said. “When I’m flying to a different city or driving to a different city every day and wrestling and memorizing promos and all these things, a lot of other things fell to the side.”

It was further added that Riddle felt a sense of relief when WWE released him, as it came at a time when he needed to address personal matters and prepare for the arrival of his new child.

This change allowed him to focus on his well-being and family, marking a significant shift in his life. Although he had success professionally, the personal challenges he faced were substantial, and the release provided an opportunity to rebuild and take better care of himself.

”It’s why Riddle said he was relieved when WWE released him because he had things to take care of and a kid on the way. It happened at the right time, allowing him to take care of himself.”

“I’m in a way different place,” Riddle said. “I feel way better. It’s hard to explain because most people think, ‘Oh you’re there, it must be great.’ Professionally my life was awesome. Personally, my life was in shambles. You lose your family. You lose this, that and you’re trying to rebuild anything and you don’t have time to.”

The Original Bro has already addressed potentially returning to WWE one day. The wrestling landscape is constantly evolving, and future developments could alter the current situation. While it’s uncertain whether Riddle will make a return to WWE, his talent and potential suggest that a comeback could be possible at some point.
