After signign with WWE a few years ago, Gable Steveson trained and participated in dark matches, but his television debut never materialized. Eventually, WWE released him. After his departure, Steveson signed with the Buffalo Bills, but the team has since waived him, and he did not make the practice squad either.
Gable Steveson’s release from WWE was a long time coming for many fans, given his difficulty connecting with audiences. With that said, he had been investing in an entirely different profession.
As reported earlier, Gable Steveson transitioned to the NFL by signing with the Buffalo Bills, where he played as a defensive lineman. He began his NFL journey in June and was clearly dedicated to putting in the work to succeed in this new chapter of his career.
Gable Steveson failed to secure a spot on the Buffalo Bills’ practice squad after being waived from the team on Tuesday as NFL teams finalized their rosters to the final 53 players. Despite being eligible for the practice squad, the Bills chose not to sign him, leaving Steveson’s NFL future uncertain.
During the preseason, he played in all three of the Bills’ games as a defensive lineman, recording three tackles and two quarterback hits. The 24-year-old is a two-time NCAA heavyweight champion for the Minnesota Golden Gophers and an Olympic Gold Medalist in freestyle wrestling from the Tokyo Games. Regardless, we’ll have to see what the future holds for Steveson.
