AEW has rapidly grown into one of the premier wrestling promotions globally, with events like AEW All In showcasing its increasing popularity and impact since its inception in 2019. Building on this momentum, AEW has officially announced that its Grand Slam event will take place in Australia in 2025, marking the company’s first major stadium event in the country.

During the AEW All In Zero Hour show, AEW confirmed that the Grand Slam event would indeed be held at Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane on February 15, 2025. This announcement has generated considerable excitement among wrestling fans as it marks AEW’s continued expansion into international markets.

Moreover, ESPN Australia and NZ released a promotional video to build further momentum towards the event, announcing that AEW Collison and Grand Slam Australia will be telecasted on ESPN while also announcing Collison’s premiere on ESPN on September 1 every Sunday.

“IT JUST KEEPS GETTING BETTER! 🙌 AEW Collision and AEW Grand Slam: Australia ON ESPN! 🥊 AEW: Collision will premiere on ESPN September 1 and air each Sunday AEST. 📺 And ESPN will also broadcast AEW’s historic Australian event, AEW Grand Slam: Australia, set for Feb 2025.”

But it was AEW star and Australian native Buddy Matthews who took to his X to call them out for not including a single Australian star in the package, taking a direct shot at them.

“With not one Australian represented in the package! 👌.”

Buddy Matthews made a fair point about not having Australian representation in the promotional video for AEW’s first major event in Australia. As AEW gears up for this landmark event, the wrestling community will be watching closely to see if the company can deliver another memorable show on a global stage. Hopefully, they will take Buddy’s criticism into consideration moving forward and release further promotions with more Australian representation to build towards another grand spectacle.
