Swerve Strickland’s rise in AEW has been impressive, showcasing his exceptional in-ring talent and magnetic charisma. He recently signed a new contract with AEW and now speculation about his contract length has been revealed.
During the Zero Hour pre-show at AEW All In, it was revealed that Swerve Strickland had signed a contract extension with AEW. The announcement was made in a segment where Strickland, alongside Prince Nana and Tony Khan, was seen signing the new deal.
No further details about Swerve Strickland’s contract were disclosed but it was evident it would be a major one. While speaking on Fightful Select’s Backstage Report, Sean Ross Sapp noted that he was unaware of the contract length. However, individuals informed him that Swerve Strickland’s AEW contract is believed to keep him with the company until at least 2028, though the exact length of the deal isn’t clear.
Sapp mentioned that Strickland’s current deal was set to expire around March of next year, with about four or five months remaining. AEW, however, prioritized extending his contract ahead of that time.
“I don’t have a length date or amount although people I spoke with that they expect him to be there until at least 2028. I don’t know the length of the deal but the people I talked to believe the deal goes to at least 2028. It was interesting because, I want to say he has four plus months on his deal? Maybe five plus months? It’s march of next year is when I heard the deal would be up but AEW wanted to prioritize this.”
Bryan Danielson ended up defeating Swerve Strickland for the AEW World Championship in the main event of the AEW All In pay-per-view. Therefore, we’ll have to see what’s next in store for Swerve Strickland, as it’s clear he will be sticking with AEW for a very long time.
