James Drake and Zack Gibson, who left WWE last year, have been making waves in various promotions since their departure. They initially debuted in AEW back in April but didn’t sign with the company at that time. However, they made a return at AEW All In recently, and their status with AEW has now been revealed.
On the April 27 episode of AEW Collision, several former WWE stars made their debut, including The Grizzled Young Veterans. They faced off against The Acclaimed and ended up losing the match.
During the AEW All In pay-per-view, The Young Bucks defended the AEW World Tag Team Titles against The Acclaimed and FTR in a triple threat match. They would successfully retain their titles but the action was far from done.
The Grizzled Young Veterans made a surprising return to All Elite Wrestling at All In 2024. James Drake and Zack Gibson confronted AEW World Tag Team Champions The Young Bucks, then proceeded to attack FTR inside Wembley Stadium, leaving a strong impression on their return.
According to a report from Fightful Select, while AEW has not officially confirmed whether James Drake and Zack Gibson have signed with the company, the report indicates that an agreement has been reached. The report also suggests that both sides have been in negotiations over the past few months.
We will have to wait and see how The Grizzled Young Veterans will be booked on AEW television in the coming weeks, as it’s quite clear they will be feuding with FTR first before going after The Young Bucks.
