WWE Impressed with Andrade and Carmelo Hayes’ SmackDown Feud

WWE has a number of Superstars who are lighting up the main roster every week. Two of those talents are really impressing people with the screen time they’ve been given. Carmelo Hayes and Andrade El Idolo both have very different stories, but they are now fighting against each other on the main roster and this means something.

Andrade is just getting back into the WWE swing of things since his return after that stint in AEW didn’t pan out to be anything special. Carmelo Hayes is a former NXT Champion, but his recent call-up put him in front of a brand-new audience. The two of them both have something to prove, and they’ve gained attention.

Sean Ross Sapp reported on Fightful Select that Andrade and Carmelo Hayes have received high marks for their storytelling in the ring, and getting the audience invested in their feud. It was also noted that this was pretty much expected, seeing how they’ve both lit up the screen.

In recent memory, Andrade and Carmelo Hayes have faced off three times on WWE programming, each match adding to their growing rivalry. On July 19 episode of SmackDown, Andrade claimed victory over Carmelo Hayes. A few weeks later, on the August 2 SmackDown, Andrade once again defeated Hayes in another match.

However, the tide turned on August 9’s SmackDown when Santos Escobar defeated Andrade, earning a #1 Contendership for the WWE United States Title. Most recently, on August 16, 2024, Carmelo Hayes finally got the better of Andrade, securing a win. This series of matches highlights the fierce competition between Andrade and Hayes as they continue to push each other to their limits in the ring.

We will have to find out when WWE will book those two for another match. A fourth encounter could be a big show-down, but this could also be the start of something much bigger. A best of 7 series seems likely at this point, and that might not be a bad thing.
