AEW has seen substantial changes over the past five years, with shifts in talent signings, production values, and other aspects of its operation. Despite these developments, AEW has not yet reached the global dominance of WWE. Recently, there have been calls for Tony Khan to consider releasing several talents in AEW as part of a strategy to better compete with WWE.

London Mayor Sadiq Khan showed strong interest in hosting WrestleMania in the UK’s capital. This led to ton of development in the past week as WWE is currently discussing having WrestleMania event take place in London. In fact, even Triple H revealed the reason why WWE is considering London as host for future WrestleMania.

Last month, Thunder Rosa noticed that WWE’s recent announcement was made right before AEW’s All In event on August 25th, and she found the timing interesting. She felt that WWE did this on purpose as part of a plan to strengthen their position in the wrestling world. Rosa also accused WWE of trying to move into the same markets that AEW is aiming for.

“I think it’s very interesting, the timing that this is happening. It’s so interesting…It’s game on. Game is on and they are doing everything business-wise to become a company that is bulletproof and now [they’re] targeting a market AEW is targeting…It’s capitalism 101.”

While speaking on his Keepin’ it 100 podcast, Konnan criticised Thunder Rosa and said didn’t fully understand the situation. Konnan explained that WWE isn’t really concerned about AEW. He believes WWE is aware of AEW but doesn’t see them as a serious threat. Konnan suggested that AEW has many internal issues that need to be resolved before they can truly compete.

Konnan emphasized the need for someone to come in, clean up the organization, enforce discipline, and make necessary changes, including firing some of the talent, to start doing business effectively.

“She doesn’t understand they are not on their radar, really, you know what I am saying. They know they exist, but they are not worried about them. They are like a self-check; they are going to self-destruct themselves, or they got so many issues to resolve before they steer the ship. They are not worried right now. They need somebody to come in there and clean house, reset that place, put some discipline in action… fire all the people they have to fire, you know what I am saying, and start doing business.”

We will have to wait and see whether Tony Khan will end up releasing more talent in the coming months, as many fans feel the AEW roster is far too bloated and numerous stars do not get enough focus to thrive in the company.
