Ronda Rousey parted ways with WWE after her match against Shayna Baszler at SummerSlam last year and fans were shocked by her actions. With that said, she has now confirmed the reason for her WWE exit.
During Pro Wrestling Revolver’s Unreal event back in 2023, Ronda Rousey and Marina Shafir faced Athena and Billie Starkz in tag team action. However, that wasn’t her only appearance as she made her ROH debut back in November in one-off match and that was the last time Rousey competed in a match and it’s not known when she will wrestle again.
While speaking in a recent interview on the Pretty Intense podcast with Danica Patrick, Ronda Rousey explained that she left WWE due to a neurological injury. She shared that her condition prevents her from handling impacts to the head.
Rousey misses activities like rolling and grappling, which involve sparring without hitting, but she can no longer participate in these because her past neurological injuries make her unable to endure head impacts or unnecessary blows. These injuries accumulate over time and do not heal completely.
“I also miss rolling, which is like sparring on the ground. I miss grappling, which is sparring without hitting each other. But with my history of neurological injuries, I can’t take hits to the head anymore or endure impacts beyond what’s necessary. So, I can’t really do it for fun. Neurological injuries accumulate over time, and it’s not something you recover from—they just build up.”
Ronda Rousey already made it clear that she would consider making return to WWE under Triple H’s regime. Nonetheless, we’ll have to see what’s next in store for Rousey, as the world is truly her oyster.
