Ricky Starks has been a key figure in AEW since 2020, but he has been noticeably missing from television since late March. His contractual status with AEW has now been confirmed.

On the March 30 episode of AEW Collision, Ricky Starks appeared to suffer an injury during a tag team title tournament match where he and Big Bill faced Top Flight. This match marked his last appearance on AEW television, and he has not been seen since, with the reasons for his absence remaining unclear.

Speculation has been running rampant regarding Starks’ absence, with some suggesting he might be moving to WWE. This has led to beliefs that AEW could be holding off on using him further due to potential interest from WWE.

AEW President Tony Khan confirmed during the AEW All In media call that Ricky Starks is still under contract with AEW at the moment.

“Ricky has been a great star in AEW, been a champion here, and has had great matches here. I think very highly of Ricky. He’s somebody that has been here for several years and he’s under contract in AEW. He’s a well-regarded wrestler here in AEW.”

WWE NXT also has significant interest in signing Ricky Starks whenever he will be available. Regardless, we will have to wait and see whether Starks will end up leaving AEW in the future and joining WWE.
